Last year’s Hola Community Arts, a first for the group, included representatives from eight countries, including Aztec drummers and dancers, Shavela said. One of the reasons Tony Morris, founder and owner of Asheville Sun Sue Martial Arts, has sponsored entry to the parade for the past decade is to connect with people from different cultures.

“Participation connects us to the community as a whole and shows that we can all live together, regardless of religion or spiritual affiliation. “We can provide a lot of entertainment and let people of all ages see their participation,” Morris said.
