The United States of America, commonly known as America (USA) is a country located in North America. The country has 50 states, and American citizens enjoy the rights provided by the country’s constitution. In addition to their constitutional rights, the American people also enjoy national holidays. Rest is very important for everyone’s life. In order to recover, everyone needs a vacation or a weekend and some time to relax with loved ones. The list of public holidays in the United States are known as federal holidays.
A federal holiday is a holiday in the United States, officially designated by the United States government. The US Congress has declared federal holidays. On federal holidays, every employee of the federal government has paid time off, and it is also a holiday for banks, schools, offices and businesses. Non-government and core offices are closed, including stock trading on federal holidays. The power to declare any day a federal holiday rests with Congress. In 2022, US citizens are entitled to 11 federal holidays. North Carolina is the 12th state to join the organization. It became a state on November 21, 1789.

Sales tax rulings are cases where selected items are exempt from state (and sometimes local) sales tax. Such holidays have become an annual event in many states, targeting items such as school supplies, clothing, computers, hurricane preparedness, products bearing the US government’s Energy Star label, even guns. New York State, known for its high state taxes, created the state in 1997 as a way to prevent cross-border human trafficking.
In 2022, 17 states will have sales tax holidays, down from a peak of 19 in 2010 and unchanged from last year (see Table 1). While Florida already offered several sales tax credits in previous years, this year it added a few more, targeting children’s books, children’s clothing and Energy Star items. Namely, the annual holidays from sales tax on children’s clothing and Energy Star products will last for one year, and the holiday for energy-efficient doors, windows and garage doors will last for two years. The Sunshine State isn’t alone in its long holiday — Tennessee instituted an annual firearms holiday last July, which recently expired.

At first glance, sales tax holidays seem like a great cause. They enjoy political support, and proponents argue that the holiday is a highly visible form of tax cut that benefits low-income earners. Politicians and other supporters argue that a sales tax improves business sales, creates jobs and improves economic growth.
Despite their political popularity, tax holidays are based on bad tax policy and distract policymakers and taxpayers from real, lasting and economic tax reform. The sales tax holiday injects government pollution into the economy without significant economic growth. They represent a real cost to businesses without providing significant benefits. They are also inappropriate ways of helping the poor and inefficient ways of providing savings to consumers.

Sales tax is a type of tax on consumption, that is, tax on the consumption of goods and services purchased by the end user. The principle behind the use of sales tax to support government is that individuals should pay tax in proportion to the profits they make from government funds; This idea is known as the utility principle. Personal consumption is considered a convenient proxy for the amount of government services an individual consumes.
Therefore, the tax used is considered an appropriate way to pay for government services. Consumption also has the advantage of being easy to track, measure and tax. Many economists also prefer a consumption tax to an income tax because a consumption tax does not tax (and discourages) saving.

Sales taxes in the US are consumption taxes, but are more specific to certain transactions, such as higher education, housing, and health care. However, a properly designed sales tax would tax everything that consumers use, including services that are currently exempt.
Expanding the sales tax base while simultaneously reducing the sales tax rate will facilitate both revenue collection and the economic impact of higher tax rates. High tax rates increase market distortions and can stifle growth by making a country less attractive to individuals and businesses.
Another important characteristic of a good sales tax is that it is taxed once and only once. Business inputs, or purchases between businesses that are used to create other products or services, should be excluded from the sales tax base. Otherwise, the final product will be taxed multiple times: once (or more) during production and again when the consumer buys it. In practice, this tax, unfortunately, occurs in many countries.

Sales taxes tend to be regressive on income because low-income earners tend to spend a higher percentage of their income on taxable sales than high-income earners. In an effort to reduce this shortfall, items considered consumer goods, such as food, appliances, clothing, and pharmaceuticals, are often exempt from sales tax in the United States. But these exemptions also benefit many taxpayers, reducing the base and requiring higher tax rates.
In essence, sales tax reform would broaden the sales tax base while lowering the sales tax rate to create a system that collects stable revenue with little economic disruption. Sales tax rulings are an example of the opposite – basic – as they exclude certain transactions in certain cases.
Ohio and Michigan instituted the first sales tax in 1980, when they offered a one-time tax holiday for car purchases. But New York created the modern scene, with
